BAVARIAN CASSEROLE 
1 lb. ground beef
1 med. onion
2 tbsp. fat
1 (16 oz.) can sauerkraut, drained
1 can tomato soup
1/2 c. rice
1 1/2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. caraway seeds
1/4 tsp. basil

Cook beef and onion in fat in large heavy skillet 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in sauerkraut, soup, rice, sugar, seasonings, and 1 1/4 cup water. Turn into casserole. Bake covered at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. 6 servings.
