BASIC ROLL DOUGH 
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 c. warm water (105-115 degrees)
3 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
1/4 tsp. salt
3-3 1/2 c. flour

Dissolve yeast in water. Add sugar, shortening, egg, salt and half of flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in rest of flour to form soft dough.

Place in greased bowl. Cover and let rise 1 hour or until double. Turn out and knead. Shape and bake as directed. Let raise until double, about 35-40 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes.
