OATMEAL CAKE 
1 1/2 c. hot water
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. cake flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. oatmeal
2 eggs
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon

Pour hot water over oatmeal; let stand. Cream together sugars and shortening; beat eggs into mixture. Sift together flour, soda, cinnamon and salt. Add to shortening mixture. Add oats. Beat well and pour into 13"x9" greased baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.

ICING:

3/4 stick butter
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tbsp. milk
1 can coconut, grated

Mix butter and milk; add brown sugar and boil for one minute. Add coconut and nuts. Pour over baked cake and brown lightly under broiler.
