OATMEAL CAKE 
1 c. quick oats
1 1/2 c. boiling water

Combine above and cool 20 minutes.

Blend:

1 stick butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs

Mix until creamy.

Mix together:

1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon

Add to creamed mixture. Add oatmeal mixture and beat well. Turn into lightly greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees until it springs back when touched. Spread frosting on cake while hot. Return to oven for 1 minute. This cake is very moist.

FROSTING FOR OATMEAL CAKE:

1 tbsp. white Karo syrup
1 c. brown sugar
4 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. cream

Bring to a boil. Boil 3 minutes. Then add:

1/2 c. coconut
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Spread on cake.
