OATMEAL CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. allspice
1 1/4 c. boiling water
2 eggs
1 c. white sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. quick cooking oats

Pour boiling water over oats and set aside. Combine butter, vanilla, eggs, and both sugars, add oatmeal mixture. Add dry ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes. While cake is hot, pour topping over top of cake.

TOPPING FOR OATMEAL CAKE:

1 c. light brown sugar
1/2 stick butter
1/2 c. canned milk
1 c. coconut

Mix all together and pour over cake, put under broiler to brown slightly.
