CHOCOLATE CHIPS COOKIES 
3/4 c. shortening
1 1/4 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. milk
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 3/4 c. flour (self-rising)
1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. pecans (if needed)

Blend in shortening, sugar, egg, vanilla and milk; stir good, then add flour. Mix good. Then add chocolate chips and nuts. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Bake about 8 to 10 minutes for chewy cookies or 11 to 13 minutes for crisp. Remove and let cool.
