CHOCOLATE BUTTER CAKE 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs, separated
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 c. boiling water
3 c. flour
1 c. milk
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
Salt

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg yolks. Mix cocoa and boiling water. Cool. Add cocoa to creamed mixture. Add flour and milk alternately. Add baking powder, salt and vanilla. Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into mixture. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
