FRENCH CHEW TAFFY | |
3 pt. white sugar 1 pt. white Karo 1 pt. cream (1/2 c. whipping & 1/2 c. coffee cream) 2 oz. paraffin 1/2 oz. crystal flake (at drug store) 1 tbsp. vanilla Butter the size of an egg (not butter) Mix together all except the crystal flake and vanilla. Cook until a brown color and will form a soft ball in cold water. Then add dissolved crystal flake. Stir while it cooks, especially after adding crystal flake. Cook until it cracks against the sides of testing cup. Stir in 1 tablespoon of vanilla and pour onto a lightly greased platter or cookie sheet to cool until it can be handled to pull. Takes at least 2 people to pull. Makes about 3 pounds. |
