BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
6 med. onions
2 green peppers
4 qts. sliced pickles
2 tbsp. salt

SYRUP:

5 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
2 tbsp. mustard seed
3 c. vinegar

Slice onions, peppers, and pickles. Place in ice water for 3 hours. Drain and add 2 tablespoons salt. Mix up syrup ahead and boil pickles in syrup for 15 minutes. Put hot pickles in clean hot jars. Put on lids heated in hot water and screw rings on tight. They seal themselves, no need to process.
