Chocolate-Applesauce Cake - Recipe

CHOCOLATE-APPLESAUCE CAKE

2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1 (16 oz.) can applesauce
1 tsp. vanilla

3 tbsp. cocoa
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda

Bake in tube pan at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.

ICING:

1 c. milk
5 tbsp. flour

Cook until thick, cool mixture.

1 c. confectioners sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla

Add cooked cream sauce WHEN COOL; beat until fluffy and frost cake.
