APPLESAUCE CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. brown sugar
2 1/2 c. self-rising flour
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 2/3 c. applesauce
1 3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice
2/3 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour a 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan. Cream butter, sugar and brown sugar with electric mixer until light and fluffy add eggs one at a time. Sift together flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. Add dry mixture alternately with applesauce. Fold in raisins and nuts if desired. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 55 minutes or until cake pulls away from sides of pan. Cool in pan or wire rack while cake is warm. Spread with Hot Milk Icing.

HOT MILK ICING:

Combine 2 cups confectioners' sugar, 1/4 cup hot milk, 2 tablespoons melted butter, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla or rum extract in small bowl.
