CHEWY PECAN STICKS 
1/2 cup Crisco
1 1/2 cups flour
1 egg
2 tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs
2 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350°F.

To make pastry:

With a fork. blend Crisco, flour, sugar, and salt until mix is like fine meal. Stir in egg and water. Press dough into 8x12-inch pan.

Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes.

Beat eggs; add remaining ingredients and beat thoroughly. Spread over pastry and bake for 40 minutes. Cool and cut into narrow bars.

Makes 32 2x3" cookies.
