HUNGARIAN BUTTER COOKIES | |
2 c. flour 1/2 lb. sweet butter 1 c. sugar 1 egg yolk and 1 whole egg 1/2 c. ground walnuts, mixed with 1 tsp. sugar Cream butter, add eggs and beat. Add sugar gradually. Add flour and beat just until flour is thoroughly mixed in. Batter will remain sticky but put flour on fingers and pinch off a little dough. Form into a ball and dip in slightly beaten egg whites and then into the walnut and sugar mixture. Place on a greased cookie sheet and make a hole in the center with your thumb. Fill hole with apricot preserves (not jelly). Bake at 375 degrees until lightly browned, 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet at once. |
