SALLY ANN COOKIES 
1/2 c. Crisco
1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. molasses
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. hot water
6 c. flour

FROSTING:

1 1/2 c. cold water
2 env. Knox gelatin
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
Dash of salt

Mix and chill cookie dough. Roll out fairly thick on floured surface. (Use Spam can to cut cookies.) Bake at 375 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes.

FROSTING: Soak gelatin in cold water in heavy pan. Add sugar and bring to rolling boil. Simmer 10 minutes; stirring occasionally. Place powdered sugar in large mixing bowl and pour in hot mixture and beat until foamy. Add baking powder, vanilla and salt. Beat until thick with electric mixer. Frost bottom of cookies. Let set to dry about 6 hours. Makes 60 cookies.
