EVER BEST ROLLS 
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 c. lukewarm water
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 scant tsp. salt
1 c. hot water
1 beaten egg
1/2 c. lukewarm water
5 c. all-purpose flour

Dissolve yeast in a cup with 1 teaspoon sugar and 1/2 cup lukewarm water; set aside. In a large mixing bowl mix 1/3 cup sugar, 1/2 cup shortening, 1 scant teaspoon salt and 1 cup hot water. Cool to lukewarm. Add dissolved yeast and 1 beaten egg to mixture. Add 1/2 cup more lukewarm water. To this, add 5 cups all-purpose flour, a small amount at a time. Cover and let rise about 2 hours.

Make into rolls, using desired amount, and let rise about 2 hours. Cover the remaining and refrigerate.
