CALICO BEANS | |
1 can kidney beans, drained 1 can northern beans, drained 1 can pork and beans 1 can butter beans 1/2 lb. ground beef 1/2 lb. bacon 1 sm. onion, chopped fine 3/4 c. brown sugar Mix first four ingredients and set aside. In large skillet cook together bacon and ground beef, then drain. Then add the onion and beans and bar-b-que sauce (see below). Let cook for 40 minutes on low heat in Dutch oven on top of stove or 3 hours (at least), in crockpot, or in oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Can be served hot or cold. Optional - top with mild Cheddar cheese, shredded and serve with corn bread. BAR-B-QUE SAUCE: 1/2 cup ketchup 1 teaspoon yellow mustard 2 teaspoons vinegar 1/2 cup sugar Combine these ingredients and use according to above directions. |
