SWEET AND SOUR SPARE RIBS 
1 egg
1 tbsp. cornstarch
Salt and pepper

Beat egg, add cornstarch, salt and pepper. Preheat frying pan, add shortening, dip ribs in egg mixture and brown. Then add sweet and sour sauce.

SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE:

1/3 c. white sugar
1/3 c. catsup
1/3 c. vinegar

Pour this mixture over ribs and bake in moderate oven until tender.
