HOLIDAY ORANGE - CRANBERRY CAKE 
2 1/4 c. sifted flour
1 c. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. diced dates
1 c. fresh cranberries (2 c. are better)
Grated rind of 2 oranges
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. buttermilk
3/4 c. salad oil

TOPPING:

1 c. orange juice
1 c. granulated sugar
A little grated orange rind

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Stir in nuts, dates, cranberries and orange rind. Combine the eggs, buttermilk and salad oil. Add to flour, fruit mixture and stir until blended. Pour into well greased 10 inch tube pan. Bake 1 hour. Let stand until lukewarm. Remove to rack placed over wide dish or pan.
