1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. Crisco
2 eggs
1 pinch of salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 qt. flour

In 8 tbsp. of hot water dissolve 1 tsp. baking soda, mix in cream, sugars and Crisco. Add ingredients as listed, mix to medium soft dough, roll in small balls or drop from spoon on sheets.

Butter bottom of small glass and stamp into sugar, then on cookies to flatten.

This recipe may also be used for Christmas cookies by cooling in refrigerator, then roll dough and use cookie cutters and decorate.
