SPLIT PEA SOUP 
2 1/4 c. split peas
8 c. cold water
1 lg. can tomatoes
1/2 c. onion
1/2 c. celery
1/4 c. carrots
3 tbsp. parsley
2 tbsp. vinegar
1 to 2 cloves garlic
2 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. oregano
6 slices bacon, browned

Combine peas and water. Bring to boil. Simmer 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Cover and let set 1 hour. Add remaining ingredients except for bacon. Cook 2 hours. Add bacon, cook 15 minutes.
