MOTHER BRITTON'S HOMEMADE BREAD 
1 qt. water
1 pt. milk
2 tbsp. raw grated potato
1/2 c. sugar
2-3 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. Baker's yeast
1/2 c. lukewarm water

Let liquid and potatoes come to a boil. Remove from heat. Add sugar and salt and let cool. Put yeast in lukewarm water. When liquid is warm, put in mixing pan. Add yeast and flour (enough to work into a stiff dough, but don't use too much flour). Put in greased bowl. Let rise 2 times size. Punch down and put in pan; let rise again. Bake until golden brown.
