CHEWY CHERRY BARS 
1/2 c. butter, room temperature
1 c. light brown sugar, packed
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. quick cooking oats
1/2 c. Smucker's cherry preserves

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat butter and sugar in medium bowl until fluffy; beat in extract. Mix in flour, baking powder and oats until crumbly. Reserve 1/4 cup mixture; pat remaining mixture in bottom of greased 8 inch square baking pan. Dot preserves over crumb mixture in pan; sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture. Bake until brown (30-40 minutes). Cool on wire rack. Cut into bars.
