PARMESAN BREADSTICKS
2 (1/4 oz.) envelopes of active dry yeast
1 1/2 c. warm water
4 c. all purpose flour
2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tbsp. honey
1 large egg
1/2 c. butter
2 tbsp. Parmesan cheese, grated
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. dried parsley

Combine yeast and 1/2 cups of warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes. Combine 2 cups flour and salt and set aside. Combine yeast mixture, remaining 1 cup water, honey and egg in a large mixing bowl. Gradually add flour mixture, beating until well blended. Gradually stir in enough remaining 2 cups flour to make a soft dough. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic. Place in a well greased bowl, turning to grease top. Cover and let stand. Combine butter and remaining 3 ingredients in a small saucepan, cook over medium heat until butter melts. Set aside. Roll dough into a 21x6 inch rectangle. Cut dough crosswise into 21-inch strips. Twist each strip 2 times. Place strips on a lightly greased baking sheet and brush with half of butter mixture. Cover and let rise in a warm place.

Bake at 400°F for 12 minutes. Brush with remaining butter mixture.

Yields 21 breadsticks.
