COUNTRY PIE | |
CRUST: 1/2 c. bread crumbs 1/2 (8 oz.) can Hunt's tomato sauce 1 lb. ground beef 1/4 c. chopped onions 1/4 c. chopped onions 1/4 c. chopped green peppers 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 1/8 tsp. oregano FILLING: 1 1/3 c. Minute Rice 1 1/2 c. Hunt's tomato sauce 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. water 1 c. grated cheese CRUST: Combine all the above ingredients into a bowl and mix well with a fork. Then pat the meat mixture gently into the bottom and sides of a greased 9" pie pan. FILLING: Combine Minute Rice, tomato sauce, salt, water and 1/2 cup cheese. Spoon rice mixture into meat shell. Cover with aluminum foil. Bake in 350 degree oven for 25 minutes. Uncover, top with remaining cheese and bake, uncovered 10 to 15 minutes longer. Makes 5 or 6 servings. Serve with rolls and a tossed salad. |
