CHOCOLATE CHERRY CAKE 
1 pkg. devil's food cake mix
21 oz. can cherry pie filling
1 tsp. almond extract
2 eggs, beaten

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using solid shortening, grease and flour 13 x 9 inch pan. In large bowl, stir together ingredients 1, 3 and 4 until large lumps are gone, then add canned cherry pie filling.

Pour into prepared pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. While cake is cooling, prepare frosting.

FROSTING:

1 c. sugar
1/3 c. milk
5 tbsp. butter
6 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate morsels

In small pan, combine sugar, butter and milk. Boil, stirring constantly for 1 minute. Remove from heat; stir in chocolate pieces until smooth.

Spread over partially cool cake. (Tastes like chocolate covered cherries.)
