SCALLOPED TURNIPS 
3 med. turnips, peeled
2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. flour
1 1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/2 c. grated cheese

Cut turnips in slices and boil in salted water about 15 minutes. Make a white sauce with butter, flour, milk, salt and pepper. Pour this over the turnips which you have put into greased casserole dish and sprinkle cheese on top. Bake for about 10 minutes at 350 degrees and serve very hot.
