4 tbsp. alum 4 tbsp. salt 4 tbsp. pickling spice 5 lbs. sugar Wash cucumbers well. Cut off ends. Wash gallon jar. Put whole cucumber in jar. Add spices, alum, and salt. Fill jar with white vinegar. Put lid on. Let stay in jar 3 months, then take out. Wash good. Slice and place back in jar, then put 5 pounds of sugar over them. 24 hours, they are ready to eat. |
