1 c. sugar 1 can sweetened condensed milk 1 lg. can evaporated milk 4 eggs Vanilla to taste Place sugar in pot. Heat on stove over medium heat, stirring constantly until golden brown. DO NOT ALLOW TO BURN. Quickly coat baking dish with the sugar. Combine all other ingredients thoroughly by hand. Pour into baking dish with the sugar. Place pan into larger pan of water in 350 degree oven and bake until firm. When the custard doesn't jiggle when gently shaken, it is done (approximately 2 hours). To remove from baking dish, place a dish, preferably with sides or bigger than the baking dish over the top of the baking dish. Carefully and quickly turn over, being careful not to get the sugar on you because it will burn. |
