FRUITCAKE COOKIES 
1 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour, rounded
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
4 oz. red candied cherries
4 oz. candied pineapple, diced
1 1/2 c. dates, cut fine
1/2 c. pecans, broken

Cream butter, brown sugar, egg and vanilla together in large mixing bowl. Stir flour, salt and soda together. Add to creamed mixture. Blend. Add fruits and nuts; blend.

Drop by teaspoons on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes. Store tightly covered. Best after storing a few days. Yield 3 1/2 dozen.
