GRANDMA BROCK'S CHOCOLATE CAKE 
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. cocoa
3/4 c. shortening (I used 1/2 c. shortening and 1/4 c. butter)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. boiling water

Cream butter and shortening and sugar together until smooth, beat in eggs. Sift dry ingredients together. Mix alternately with buttermilk and add vanilla, beating well; add boiling water and beat well until smooth. Lightly grease and flour bundt pan. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 30 to 40 minutes in a 350 degree oven. Make a glaze of powdered sugar and chocolate and butter if desired.
