CALLICOON CENTER MAPLE MUFFINS 
2 c. unsifted flour (measured by being spooned into a cup.)
1/4 c. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. maple syrup

In a bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture has texture of cornmeal. In another bowl, beat egg, milk and maple syrup together. Add to flour mixture and stir just until blended. Spoon into greased muffin pans. Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 20 minutes or until done.
