MAPLE-NUT MUFFINS 
2 c. all-purpose flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp.salt
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. maple syrup
1/4 c. melted shortening or salad oil
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Sift dry ingredients together in bowl. Combine liquid ingredients; add to dry ingredients, mixing only until all flour is moistened. Stir in nuts. Fill greased muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake at 400 degrees for 18 to 20 minutes. Yield: 12 muffins.
