This is a really fabulous cake! I use 1/2lb margarine and 1/2lb butter for the topping. This is a cake that is ALWAYS requested. Reminds me of the crumb buns we would get at the bakery in Queens when I was a kid.

I have been looking for a crumb cake receipe for twenty years. Trying to make crumb cake that I remember as a child from Brooklyn N.Y. This is it. The difference is the melted butter. Makes large crumbs, more crumbs than cake. Just like New York crumb cake should be. Very easy to make.

This was so close to our favorite bakery made crumb cake. Very good flavor on the cake, because of the added vanilla. The consistency is just not quite dense enough. Also, most people don't have the large pan that it calls for. Can you add directions for two smaller pans? (baking time, temp and size). Topping was excellent.

I come from Queens New York and I used to get my crumb buns from a place call Margie's which used to be under the El which is no longer there. They were the best! All crumbs, very little cake and then she would give me a bag of crumbs to take home. Those were the days! I have not tried this recipe but I definitely will. Thank you!
