FRUIT CAKE 
6 whole eggs, beaten
1 1/2 c. Crisco
2 c. sugar
4 c. flour
1/2 c. black coffee
1/2 c. molasses
1 lb. blanched almonds, chopped
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
1/2 lb. English walnuts, chopped
1/2 lb. dates
1/2 lb. currants
1/2 lb. raisins
1 lb. candied cherries
1 lb. candied pineapple

Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and beat 5 minutes. Add coffee, then soda, mixed with molasses. Add the flour, which has been sifted with the spices. Dredge the fruit carefully in flour, add to batter, mixing well. Pour into a greased paper-lined pan. Bake 2 1/2 hours at 350 degrees. Makes a 5 pound cake.
