CHRISTMAS FRUIT CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
4 eggs, separate whites from yolks
4 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon, allspice
1/2 tsp. mace, cloves
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk
1 c. Brer Rabbit molasses
1 jar S & W candied fruit
1 c. raisins
1 c. walnuts
1 c. dates, cut in 4 pieces

In large bowl put butter and sugar, creamed. Add 4 egg yolks; mix well. The flour is sifted with dry ingredients then add milk and flour until all are in the bowl. Add 1 cup molasses. Stir all together. Now add 1 cup raisins, walnuts and candied fruit and vanilla. Beat egg whites stiff. Fold in the cake mixture until all gone.

Put in angel food pan. Grease it well, flour it. Cut wax paper to fit bottom of pan. Comes out real easy when done. Bake it 275 for 1 1/2 hours. Put pan of water in oven while you bake your cake.
