FRIED CHEESE 
4 slices Swiss cheese, cut 3/4 in. thick
Salt to taste
1/2 c. flour
1 egg, beaten
2/3 c. finely crushed bread crumbs
1 c. shortening

Sprinkle cheese with salt. Dip slices first in flour, then in beaten egg. Quickly roll in bread crumbs and fry in shortening until golden brown.
