BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE 
3 c. plain flour
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. Crisco
1 stick butter
4 eggs
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. flavoring, as desired

Combine sugar, Crisco and butter. Add eggs, one at a time. Sift flour and baking powder together. Add to mixture with 1/4 cup of buttermilk. Beat well with mixer. Add soda to remaining cup of buttermilk. Fold into batter with large spoon. Beat with spoon not mixer. Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes in a 325 degree oven.
