NUTMEG CAKE 
2 c. brown sugar
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sour cream
1 egg
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Combine brown sugar, flour, butter, salt and nutmeg. Blend with pastry blender until mixture is crumbly and completely blended. Butter a 9 inch square pan generously. Spoon in half the crumb mixture and pat down. Stir soda into sour cream and mix into remaining crumbs along with egg.

Pour batter over crumbs and sprinkle with chopped nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. May be served with ginger or orange whipped cream.
