NUTMEG APPLE BAKE 
6 apples, peeled & cut into eighths
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. orange juice
2 tbsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. nutmeg
12 squares cinnamon graham crackers
1/2 c. sugar
Grated rind of 1 orange
1/4 c. chopped almonds
butter

Place apples, water and orange juice in skillet, cover and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes, or until barely tender. Add the 2 tablespoons sugar, and the nutmeg. Pour over apple mixture into a greased pan. Roll the crackers to crumbs and mix the crumbs, sugar rind and almonds together. Sprinkle the crumb topping over the apples and dot all over with butter. Bake at 375 degrees until crumbs are slightly browned, about 10 minutes. Serve hot with milk or soft custard.
