GREAT MUD PIE 
1 1/2 c. cookie crumbs or granola
1/2 c. butter, melted, divided
1/2 gal. vanilla ice cream
3 (1 oz.) sqs. semi-sweet chocolate
1/3 c. sugar
2/3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. almond extract
1/2 c. almonds, chopped
Whipped cream

Mix cookie crumbs with 1/4 cup melted butter. Press mixture evenly and firmly into a 7 1/2 x 12 inch glass baking dish. Bake in preheated 325 degree oven for 10 minutes. Cool thoroughly. Soften ice cream and spoon over crust. Freeze solid. In a heavy pan melt chocolate squares with remaining butter. Add sugar and stir to mix. Slowly stir in milk and cook until mixture boils. Add vanilla and almond extract. Pour over ice cream. Garnish with chopped nuts. Cover with tent of foil and freeze. Serve with whipped cream.
