HOLIDAY NUT ACORNS | |
2 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 c. butter 1/4 c. brown sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1/3 c. pecans, chopped fine 1 c. sifted confectioners' sugar 1 pkg. assorted vegetable food colors Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift together flour and baking powder. Next melt butter over low heat. Remove from heat. Stir in brown sugar, vanilla and pecans. In large mixing bowl mix sifted flour with butter-nut mixture. Work together until flour is well blended. Shape dough into balls, flatten one side by pressing on ungreased baking sheet. Pinch top to a point (like an acorn) and bake at 350 degrees for 15-18 minutes until light golden brown. Cool. Combine confectioners' sugar with a few drops of water. Divide icing into 4 small dishes - color as desired. Dip flat ends of cookies into colored icing. Decorate with coconut, chopped nuts or sprinkles (Santa's favorite). |
