KOLACHE DOUGH | |
1 pkg. yeast 2 c. milk (lukewarm) 3 c. flour 1 tsp. sugar SECOND DOUGH: 1 whole egg 1 tsp. salt 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. shortening Mix first dough ingredients together. Let rise about 45 minutes. While waiting mix second dough. Beat well. After first dough has risen add second. Mix and add 3 1/2 cups flour. Let rise and add 1/2 cup flour on top and knead until flour disappears. Pull dough, about a tablespoon. Make balls by rolling in palm of hand - place balls on greased cookie sheet. Let rise, then punch center to make well for filling. Fill with fruit mix (of own choice) about 1 teaspoon. Filling suggestions - apricots, prunes, poppy seed. Makes 6 dozen. Bake at 375 degrees until done (about 15 minutes). |
