BUTTERY LEMON BARS 
1 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. powdered sugar
2 1/3 c. all-purpose flour
4 eggs
2 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. grated lemon peel
6 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
1 tsp. baking powder
Powdered sugar (1/2 c. for crust plus to sprinkle after baking)

In a large bowl beat butter and 1/2 cup powdered sugar until creamy. Beat in 2 cups flour and blend thoroughly. Spread mixture over bottom of well greased 13x9 pan. Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

Meanwhile, in small bowl beat eggs until light. Gradually add granulated sugar, beating mixture until thick and lemon-colored. Add lemon peel, lemon juice and remaining 1/3 cup flour plus baking powder. Beat until smooth and well mixed.

Pour lemon mixture over baked crust and return to oven. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until topping is pale golden.
