FROSTED APPLE BARS 
3 3/4 c. flour
1 1/2 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. lard or shortening
3 egg yolks
8-10 apples, sliced thin
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon

Sift together flour, sugar and salt. Cut in lard or shortening. Place egg yolks in 1 cup measure. Add enough milk to make 1 cup (save egg whites). Combine liquid and dry ingredients. Roll 1/2 of the dough to fit 12"x15" cookie sheet or jelly roll pan. Sprinkle 1 1/2 cups crushed corn flakes or Special K cereal over bottom crust.

Add sliced apples, sugar and cinnamon. Roll out other half of dough and place on apples. Pinch 2 ridges of crust together. Beat egg whites until frothy. Brush over crust. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. Remove from oven. Cool for 10 minutes. Drizzle frosting over crust.

FROSTING:

1 c. powdered sugar
3-4 tsp. water

Mix frosting ingredients.
