GRANDMA TERRY'S BREAD DRESSING | |
3 c. stale bread crumbs 2 tbsp. melted butter 1 med. onion, chopped fine or ground 3 tbsp. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 tsp. sage Sift baking powder and flour together and add to bread crumbs. Add enough milk to hold material together. Mix all ingredients and stuff it into the chicken. NOTE: You may add drippings from chicken or chicken stock for a substitute for the butter. This mixture may be turned into a frying pan and browned. This gives an excellent flavor. The dressing may be baked in a covered pan, but more moisture is needed for a proper consistency. Poultry seasoning make a better consistency. |
