LEISHA'S EASY BIRD TREATS
Pinecones
peanut butter
Bird Seed mix (any kind)
String or yarn

This is an easy way to make bird treats to hang in your yard. Fun for kids to make, real easy, and you don't have to bake anything.

First use any size, shape, or color of pinecone. Pack peanut butter into the pinecone, the more the merrier.

You can use any type of bird seed. I like to use a mixture that has seeds, corn and whole sunflower seeds. Pour the seed mixture into a medium-sized mixing bowl.

Take your peanut butter-covered pinecone and roll it firmly in the seed mixture. Using your hands, press the seeds mixture into the peanut butter so they don't fall off easily.

Tie a long piece of string around the tip of the pine cone. Tie the other end into a loop and hang anywhere there are birds. Or you can take the string and tie it directly to a tree branch or pole.

Just remember to hang your pine cone in an area where the birds can eat it safely away from cats and other predators. Also this is a favorite treat for squirrels and chipmunks. You may have to be creative to keep it away from them, unless you want or made the pinecones just for them.

I hope you have just as much fun making these as my mother and I did when I was growing up. It's even more fun watching what type of birds and creatures you attract with these delicious snacks :)
