WINTER FUN COOKIES 
1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
6 tbsp. softened butter
1 egg

In large bowl combine all ingredients beat at medium speed until dough forms, about 5 minutes. Chill 2 hours or up to 4 days.

To form cookies, a teaspoon of dough, roll into a snake roll one snake in colored sugar, then twist two together and shape into candy cane. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool before removing from pan. Makes about 2 dozen.

Does anyone know where this recipe originated? My family has been making these cookies for years and my mother would love to know where her mother got the recipe from.
They are the most perfect sugar cookies and so fun to make!

My Mom found the recipe in the late 70's early 80's printed in a local Penny saver paper.
