APPLE DANISH | |
1 c. Crisco 3 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1/2 c. milk 1 egg (yolk only) 6 c. sliced peeled apples 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 tbsp. flour 2 tsp. cinnamon Cut Crisco into flour and salt. Add milk and egg yolk. Roll dough into a ball and divide in two. Make 1/2 dough fit into bottom of a cookie sheet. Set aside. Peel and slice apples. Mix with sugar, flour and cinnamon. Arrange apple mixture over the dough on the cookie sheet. Flatten the remaining 1/2 dough with a rolling pin to the same size as the cookie sheet. Place over the apple mixture. Press the edges of the dough together to seal. Brush with the reserved egg white. Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from oven and cover immediately with the following glaze: GLAZE: 3 tbsp. milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1 1/2 c. powdered sugar 1/8 tsp. salt Mix all together and spread over hot Danish. |
