JUMBO RAISIN COOKIES 
4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. ground allspice
1 c. water
2 c. seedless raisins
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 c. chopped nuts

Sift dry ingredients. Add water to raisins and boil 5 minutes or until liquid has decreased to 1/2 cup. Cool. Cream shortening; add sugar and blend well. Add eggs, one at a time, to creamed mixture, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla, nuts and cooled raisin mixture. Add sifted dry ingredients and blend well. Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheets.

Bake at 400°F for 12 to 15 minutes.

Makes 5 dozen.
