HOLIDAY BREAD 
2 1/4 c. milk, lukewarm
1 cake compressed yeast
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. salt
4 c. flour
1/2 c. soft butter
2 eggs or 4 yolks, beaten
1/2 c. sugar
4 c. flour, approximately
1 c. citron, diced
1 c. candied cherries, cut
1 c. nut meats, chopped

Heat milk to lukewarm. Crumble yeast into it. Let stand 5 minutes. Add 2 tablespoons sugar, salt and 4 cups flour. Blend well. Let stand in warm place until light. Add butter, eggs, 1/2 cup sugar, and flour to make a soft dough which can be handled Knead thoroughly. Work in fruit. Let double in bulk. Make into 2 (1 pound) loaves. Put in greased pans. Let double in bulk. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes.
